Mosaic Pavements and Wall Decoration, opus sectile and Inlaid Stone

Since the creation of the consortium in 1991, OFFICINA conservators have been working on the collection of paintings from the Lucana Civilization at the National Archaeological Museum of Paestum. This is Italy's most important museum collection of paintings from the pre-Roman era. OFFICINA conservators also worked on the restoration of the François Tomb in Vulci: these Etruscan paintings had been removed by stacco from the original wall of the tomb during the Nineteenth century and required to be re-laid on a new support. A relevant number of treatments were also carried out Roman frescoes (still in situ or in museums) from the historically significant sites of Ostia Antica, Velia and Solunto.
